Introduction

It is a new agent for drilling fluid, the features are as following:

1. As a additive of water-based drilling fluid, it has some special characteristics because of cloud point behavior, such as preferable inhibitive ability and unctuosity;
2. It has features of water-based mud-additive, including being easy to maintain and having little damage on environment;
3. It is easy to attrach to the surface of rock and prevents filter liquor from contacting rock to protect reservoir. As a surfactant, surface tension of polyalcohol is lower than water’s. Thus, it can inhibit water lock caused by filtrate invasion to protect reservoir.
4. It can inhibit the formation of gas hydrate and decrease reservoir choke;
